Spooky Halloween Black Ice Cream
Rich, creamy, and jet black from top to bottom, this Spooky Halloween Black Ice Cream is exactly the dessert that stops people mid-bite.

Guys, you can’t go wrong with a good no-churn ice cream, and that’s exactly what this Halloween ice cream recipe does best.
Simple but striking ice cream
This recipe is very simple, and it gives you a creamy, scoopable ice cream every time.
Everyone needs a great no-churn base cold treat in their back pocket.
It’s so easy to make, and with the black coloring and fun sprinkles, you can’t get enough.
Ingredients
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream — Whipped to stiff peaks, giving the ice cream its light, airy texture without a machine.
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk — This sweetens the base, and it adds richness
- 1 tsp vanilla — Gives flavor and keeps the ice cream from tasting flat.
- Charcoal food powder OR black gel food coloring
How to Make It
Start by whipping the heavy cream to stiff peaks.
Once it holds its shape, gently mix the sweetened condensed milk, vanilla, and your black gel food coloring (or charcoal powder), being careful not to deflate the whipped cream.

When all your ice cream is combined and black, transfer the mixture into a freezer-safe container.

Freeze for 4 to 6 hours, or until it’s firm enough to scoop.
How to Store
Keep your ice cream in an airtight, freezer-safe container.
I recommend placing it at the back of the freezer to avoid ice crystals. For the best flavor and texture, enjoy it within 2 weeks of making it.
Charcoal powder or gel food coloring- which should you use?
You have two options here for getting that deep black color, and either works well.
Charcoal food powder will give you a matte black with no artificial aftertaste. Black gel food coloring is available at any supermarket, and it blends in smoothly without watering down the mixture.
Whichever one you use, add it gradually and mix well before adding more.

I enjoy this Halloween ice cream every year. One of my favorite things to do is adding new spooky toppings.
No churning or equipment- just a bowl, a whisk, and a little patience while it freezes. Let me know what crazy topping you have used.
